In Austin, we are charged a variable rate, where the cost of electricity is much higher during peak hours to promote the conservation of energy. Unfortunately, they never tell you when this is.

  • Traditionally, peak hours are between 7 am to 9 am and then again from 3 PM to 9 PM.

  • Austin Energy Rates Summary
    • On-peak hours are 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. weekdays May through October and 8:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. every day November through April.
    • Off-Peak hours are all other hours including Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
    • On-peak hours are 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. weekdays May through October.
